The employees of the North American subsidiary of Sony Picture Entertainment, whose personal data was divulged in mass quantity following the November 2004 cyber attack claimed by the hacktivist group “Guardians of Peace”, have initiated class-action suits against their North American employer for failure to secure its computer and database systems.

These initiatives, although barely discussed in France, present an opportunity to take a different perspective on the liability incurred by a company for these information security failures.
